Mixed-mode I/II fracture properties of selectively laser sintered polyamide

Additive manufacturing (AM) is a topical field today and has received the attention of many researchers. However, further research needed to overcome challenges facing AM, especially in mixed-mode fracture. The results presented this paper are framing experimental data obtained for I/II fracture properties laser sintered polyamide. experiment was carried out on Semi-Circular Bend (SCB) specimens manufactured from polyamide PA2200 using EOS Formiga P100 sintering machine. To achieve full range toughness values, pure mode I II, five crack orientations SCB (0, 15, 30, 45 54°) were considered. Further, initiation angle paths have been assessed order identify phenomena (interlayer and/or intralayer fracture). main (fracture toughness, angles paths) compared with theoretical predictions three criteria (Maximum Tensile Stress-MTS, Maximum Energy Release Rate-Gmax Equivalent Stress Intensity Factor-ESIF). underline differences between approaches data, due interlayer phenomenon. it that Gmax ESIF show best match data.
